Clothing Vocabulary (Basic A1)

Common words for items of clothing:

de kleding = the clothing

de broek = the trousers / pants
de spijkerbroek = the jeans (lit. nail trousers)
de trui = the sweater / jumper
het T-shirt = the T-shirt
het hemd / het overhemd = the shirt
de jas = the coat / jacket
de schoen / de schoenen = the shoe / the shoes
de sok / de sokken = the sock / the socks
de jurk = the dress
de rok = the skirt
de hoed = the hat
de pet = the cap
de sjaal = the scarf
de handschoen / de handschoenen = the glove / the gloves

Useful verbs:

dragen = to wear
aantrekken = to put on (clothes)
uittrekken = to take off (clothes)

Example:

Ik draag een blauwe trui. (I am wearing a blue sweater.)
Zij trekt haar jas aan. (She puts her coat on.)
